THE VODKA

Why it works so well

Distilled five times from French whole wheat and natural spring water, BleuStorm never overpowers the other ingredients. That is the difference between a cocktail where you taste the alcohol and one where everything is in its place.

Five distillations

Each pass takes away some of the harshness. What remains is a clean base that never fights the citrus.

French wheat

Whole wheat from the Cognac region gives a rounded, gently sweet body.

Gluten free

Entirely gluten free, with no effect on texture.

Five medals

Two silver from San Francisco and three gold from Los Angeles between 2015 and 2019.

QUESTIONS

Before you stir

Is it for cocktails or for drinking neat?

Both. Five distillations make it smooth enough to drink chilled on its own, yet restrained enough not to drown fresh juices in a long drink.

Does it contain gluten?

No. BleuStorm is entirely gluten free. If you are mixing for a guest with an intolerance, check the other ingredients too, as some liqueurs and ready made syrups are not.

Why chill the glass?

A warm glass warms the cocktail within minutes and brings the alcohol forward. Ten minutes in the freezer, or a glass of ice and water while you stir, is enough.

Can I replace Blue Curaçao?

Yes. Triple sec or another orange liqueur gives the same flavour. Only the colour is lost, and in Midnight New York and Blue Tango the colour is half the idea.

Which ice is right?

Large, clear cubes for drinks served over ice, since they melt slowly and dilute less. Crushed ice only where the recipe calls for it.

How should I store the bottle?

Upright, somewhere cool and away from direct light. The freezer is optional and dulls the aroma. If you are serving it neat, an hour in the freezer is enough.
